drive electric with Renault
drive electric
Pioneers of the electric vehicle, our engineers have developed class-leading technology to electrify your daily life.
Reduce local air pollution and save money with a Renault E-Tech electric vehicle. In addition to producing zero emissions while driving, your Renault electric vehicle also reduces noise pollution, making our cities a more pleasant environment to live and work in.
Renault E-Tech vehicles also benefit from an 8-year traction battery warranty and 5-year vehicle warranty, giving you peace of mind.
how does E-Tech technology work
Under the bonnet, the combustion engine has been replaced with an electric motor, powered by advanced batteries, removing the noise and emissions of a petrol or diesel engine.
energy consumption
Depending on the outside conditions and how it's used, a 100% electric vehicle may consume different amounts of energy. Discover what can affect it, and the possible solutions.
what has an impact on your electric vehicle's consumption?
speed
The faster you drive, the more energy you need to maintain your speed.
driving style
Sportier driving consumes more energy. Adopt a smoother, more economical driving style to optimize your range.
topography
When driving uphill, more energy is consumed. You recover energy when driving downhill.
weather conditions
On average, the battery offers a greater driving range in summer than in winter.
vehicle load
The weight of your vehicle, influenced by its load, will have an impact on how much energy it consumes.
will listening to the radio reduce my driving range?
Listening to the radio in your electric car is unlikely to have any noticeable effect on your driving range. The four main factors that are likely to influence your driving range are:
- • Route type – if your route is uphill or involves a lot of motorways, then you may see a faster decrease in driving range.
- • Speed – the faster you drive, the more energy the battery needs to provide.
- • Use of air conditioning or heating – using your air conditioning or heating may affect your driving range. Did you know you can pre-condition your Renault E-Tech via the multimedia system while it is charging to help conserve range?
- • Driving style – heavy use of the accelerator or brake pedal will consume more energy. Use E-Tech technologies such as regenerative braking and deceleration to optimize your driving range.
the lithium-ion battery by Renault
You can charge your Renault electric vehicle at any time.
In fact, the lithium-ion battery installed in all our electric vehicles has no memory effect and can be charged for any duration, no matter how much driving range is left.
In order to further improve the battery's longevity, we recommend keeping the level of charge between 20% and 80% for day-to-day driving, and charging to 100% for longer journeys.
there are a range of options for recharging your electric vehicle
As well as using public charging infrastructure, the most convenient way you can charge your electric vehicle is at home by installing a home charger.
All of our electric vehicles will charge from 0-100% overnight from a 7kW charger, so plug in, enjoy your evening, go to bed and wake up to a fully charged Renault.
install your home charging solution
When you purchase your Renault E-Tech 100% electric vehicle, our recommended charging partners, jet charge or evse, can help you with installing your home charging solution. Get a fixed price offer, tailored to your needs and without restrictions. Their technicians will endeavor to install your home charging solution before your vehicle is delivered.
the comfort of electric
Benefit from the comfort of driving an electric vehicle with Renault E-Tech. Using no clutch or gears, driving is simple; and with no noisy engine, driving is a quieter, smoother, and calmer experience.
instant torque
Our electric vehicles are designed to balance performance with comfort and range. With torque immediately available, acceleration is instant, providing a dynamic and engaging driving experience.
driving an electric car in the city
Reduce the stress of driving in urban traffic with an electric vehicle. With no engine vibration or noise, driving is soothing.
Pedestrians and residents also greatly benefit from reduced emissions as well as noise pollution in the local environment. Switching to an electric vehicle helps keep people healthier and our environment cleaner.
how can I manage my driving range?
Your driving style has a direct impact on the driving range of your Renault E-Tech electric vehicle. Here are a few simple tips to optimize your driving style:
- Adapt a more relaxed, smooth driving style
- Drive at a constant speed as much as possible
- Adjust your speed by controlling acceleration, including when going downhill
- Anticipate the road and conditions ahead to avoid unnecessary energy consumption
- Use the regenerative braking: when you need to stop the vehicle, first release the accelerator pedal to slow down, then apply the brakes
eco mode
ECO mode optimizes battery use and maximizes driving range by limiting the energy consumption of some of the vehicle's functions such as heating, motor performance, or top speed. This can save you up to 7% of your battery's driving range.
regenerative braking
No more wasting energy when you brake! The energy can be recovered to charge your battery, which in turn recovers driving range. You can adapt the level of energy recovery at any time by adjusting the regenerative braking intensity.
how can I check my driving range?
When you are behind the wheel of a Renault E-Tech electric vehicle, you can use the multimedia system to check your current consumption in real time. The dashboard displays the remaining driving range, calculated based on the battery charge level and your average consumption.
how do traffic jams affect my driving range?
When you start your E-Tech electric vehicle, you hear and feel quiet serenity. The same goes for when you are stuck in a traffic jam.
The electric motor only uses energy when you accelerate. When stationary, the only consumption is from any auxiliaries that are on, such as the heating or air conditioning.
Unlike a petrol or diesel vehicle which consumes more in heavy traffic, electric vehicles are able to recover energy through deceleration and braking, which helps to maximise your driving range.
batteries with no memory effect
The new lithium-ion batteries in Renault E-Tech vehicles have no memory effect.
They can be partially charged at any time and for any duration without prematurely deteriorating performance. Lithium-ion technology is now the most efficient on the market. Its high energy density allows more Wh per kg to be stored for optimized driving range.
There are no restrictions on charging, you can charge the battery even if it's not completely empty.
will my battery run flat if I go on holidays?
The battery's daily discharge rate is too low to be noticeable. It would take several weeks of inactivity to see a significant loss of charge.
Electric batteries are built with smart technology to protect their capacity and charge. This means you won't have to worry about leaving your electric vehicle in an airport car park while you go on holiday.
If you are planning to leave your electric vehicle for a long time, we would recommend leaving it charged between 40-70% to ensure it can top up the 12V battery if it starts to run low.
fireman access
The Fireman Access gives firefighters direct access to the heart of the battery if it is affected by an external fire, reducing the time it takes to extinguish a battery fire down to just 5 minutes in the case of an accident.
SD Switch
During an emergency where passengers need to be extracted from the vehicle by emergency services, the high-voltage battery can be immediately disconnected from the electrical circuitry via the innovative SD Switch, protecting both the occupants and emergency services from potential electrocution.
why EV?
Help lower noise and local air pollution with E-Tech technology. Charge at home or en route with renewable energy and travel with zero emissions.
reduced maintenance cost
As an electric vehicle has hundreds fewer mechanical parts than an internal combustion engine vehicle, servicing an electric vehicle is simple and affordable.
No oil changes, new clutches or spark plugs are required, and drivers also benefit from less frequent brake pad changes due to the regenerative braking taking the strain off the brakes.
renewable energy
An electric vehicle can run on 100% renewable energy. There are plenty of environmentally-friendly ways to charge your electric vehicle; a green electricity supplier for your home charging solution, a public charging point supplied by renewable energy, or energy produced by photovoltaic equipment such as solar panels on your roof at home.
second life & recycling
An electric vehicle battery has several lives. When batteries reach the end of their first life powering your vehicle they can be replaced. They then embark on a second life which could involve being reused for storing renewable energy or other less demanding uses. Once this second life ends, they can then be recycled by being dismantled into their component parts where the plastic and metal elements can be reused.
Renault's goal is to produce 70% of our batteries using materials recycled from end-of-life batteries by 2030.
